Finance wasn't an abstract concept growing up. My uncle spent more than four decades as a stockbroker, and listening to him describe his work gave me an early education in what it actually means to help people make decisions with their money. That early exposure led me directly into this field, and I never seriously considered anything else.
I spent years at Ameriprise Financial and Wells Fargo Advisors before founding OneSource in 2015. That decision came from a specific conviction: that people deserve an advisor who is working entirely for them, with no conflicting incentives shaping the advice they receive. That was the only way I was willing to build it.
My week is built around two things that feed each other: staying ahead of the markets and staying close to the people I work with. I monitor news and geopolitical developments daily, looking for what might affect a portfolio before it becomes a problem. I rebalance and adjust positions with both quantitative discipline and the kind of instinct that comes from doing this long enough to recognize patterns. I also meet with clients regularly, because understanding the person behind the portfolio is just as important as understanding the portfolio itself.
I also co-host "The Wise Money Guys," a radio show focused on the financial topics that matter to real people. It's one of my favorite ways to stay connected to the community and make sound financial thinking accessible to a wider audience.
Outside the office, I'm most likely on the lake with family and friends, at a car show with my dad, or watching a movie with my kids. I've been married for 30 years to my wife, Stacey. We have three daughters, Madison, Jessica, and Katie, and two Bernese Mountain dogs, Sophie and Sampson, who have opinions about most things.
